Ashfield Self Catering Holiday Cottages are in the scenic North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire. The holiday cottages are situated in the traditional unspoilt rural village of Lockton.  To find our holiday cottages take the A169 from Pickering to Whitby for approximately 5 miles, Lockton and Levisham are sign posted on the main road, take a left hand turn into the village of Lockton, follow the road  passed the Youth Hostel and Church on your right hand side, Ashfield Cottages are at the far end of the village at the top of the No through road, just before the last house on the left.  If travelling from the Whitby direction across the North York Moors on the A169, Lockton is approximately 15 miles, turn right off the A169  at the sign post for Lockton and Levisham, the holiday cottages are at the far end of the village.


The holiday cottages are a short walk from the well stocked village shop, which caters for most of your needs.  The Old Market Town of Pickering is approximately 5 miles away which offers a selection of other shops.  Only 1 mile outside the village is the Fox and Rabbit Inn, with a choice of other eating places in nearby Pickering.

From the doorstep of the holiday cottages there are many beautiful walks,  from a gentle stroll down the village to collect the morning paper, to the more serious hike across the North York Moors Countryside.  Dalby Forest is a short distance from the holiday cottages which offers you a variety of activities, one of which includes Cycle and Mountain Bike tracks for all abilities and ages to enjoy.  If you wish, take a look at information for cycle hire, tracks and walks see below.

Pickering Castle was built by William the Conqueror, much of the Castle still remains offering wonderful views over the North York Moors.  Kirkham Priory is just outside Malton, North Yorkshire.

City of York
Visit the thriving walled City of York, offering so much to see and do throughout the whole year.  There is a wide variety of things to see including the beautiful York Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, National Railway Museum, Castle Museum and a vast amount of shops on the Shambles and Stonegate just to name a few.

Dalby  Forest – The Great Yorkshire Forest
Dalby Forest one of the largest forests in Yorkshire is only a short distance from the holiday cottages with 8000 acres of woodland to explore,  which offers so much for all the family, walking, cycling, play areas, barbeque area, wildlife, concerts and a collection of craft shops and studios.  Cycle hire and refreshments are available.

Beck Isle Museum, Pickering
Come and see the collections from over the past 200 years from in and around the North York Moors, which are set in a regency mansion in Pickering.  This museum has a wealth of interesting displays for all the family, it’s well worth a visit.

Nunnington Hall
Visit this 17th century manor house situated in Ryedale North Yorkshire. Discover family rooms, the nursery, the haunted room and the attics.  Nunnington Hall is surrounded by a sheltered walled garden on the banks of the River Rye.
